Digital Media Production Internship-Writer / Researcher
Ascender Communications, Inc. is a boutique digital media
production company, conveniently located near the Eastern Market metro
along historic Barrack’s Row in Capitol Hill area of Washington, DC. We
develop and produce award-winning scripted and unscripted / documentary
stories for several industries including broadcast media. The stories we tell
often focus on public health, social justice, African American foodways,
history and travel/lifestyle.
We are seeking a part-time, digital media production intern
for the Spring 2019 (January – May) semester. We seek a smart,
highly-motivated storyteller with excellent researching, writing and
interpersonal skills to support our communication, design and video
production team.
Responsibilities will include:
• Conducting story development and historical research
• Brainstorming / pitching new content
• Writing and reviewing scripts
• Assisting with production planning
• Providing on-set production assistance
• Organizing media files
• Reviewing edited video content
• Assisting with general office support
Required QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proven interest in media production for social/food justice, public
health and African American history related topics
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong writing skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
• Video and/or image editing experience with either
Avid Media Composer and/or Adobe Photoshop,
Illustrator, Premiere and After Effects, preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Current undergraduate (rising junior or above) or graduate student
• Flexible schedule however must be available to work at least 16-20
hours/week.
